You Keep Saying You'll Take Care of Yourself… Eventually.

Sound familiar?

I'll start Monday.

I just don't have time right now.

Once things calm down, I'll focus on me.

I was doing good… until life happened.

Everyone needs me — I can't be selfish.

I know what to do, I just can't stay consistent.

Maybe you don't need another workout plan.

Maybe you need permission to finally choose yourself.

It's Not Laziness. It's Not That You Don't Care.

You know strength training matters. You know movement helps your body and your mind. You've started before — maybe many times.

The gap isn't knowledge. The gap is permission, time, structure, and priority.

You've been conditioned to put yourself last — to feel guilty for taking an hour, to believe that everyone else's needs come before yours.

Ready. Set. Release. was built for exactly that gap — the space between wanting to change and actually having the support, accountability, and coaching to make it happen.

Prioritize your health before a crisis
forces you to.

Too many women don't make their health a priority until something breaks — a diagnosis, a scare, a moment that changes everything.

This isn't about fear. It's a loving reminder: the time to invest in yourself is now — not after the wake-up call.

“Building strength and healthy habits won't prevent every hard thing — but it will prepare you to navigate them with more resilience, capacity, and self-trust.”

— Coach Nika

Meet Coach Nika

Before I Could Help Women Choose Themselves, I Had to Learn How to Choose Me.

Coach Nika - creator of ReleaseHER Fit Club and owner of Release The DOPE Fitness

Hi, I'm Coach Nika, owner of Release The DOPE Fitness and creator of ReleaseHER Fit Club.

Long before I became a coach, I was the woman I'm now passionate about helping.

I lost my mother at 19 and stepped into the responsibility of helping raise my younger sisters while I was still grieving, growing up, and trying to figure out life without her.

Then, at 24, I became a mother to twin daughters.

Suddenly, I was raising four girls while still learning how to care for and re-parent myself.

Because I believed they were my responsibility, I thought being a good sister, mother, and caregiver meant they had to come first.

So that's what I did.

I became so focused on taking care of everyone else that somewhere along the way, I lost connection with myself.

I didn't know my purpose. I struggled with low self-esteem and self-doubt. I carried unresolved grief, trauma, pressure, and the weight of constantly trying to be strong. Eventually, I experienced severe depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation.

I spent years trying to survive without realizing how little of myself was actually left on my own priority list.

I knew how to show up for everybody else.

“I knew how to show up for everybody else. I had to learn how to show up for me.”

Eventually, I realized something had to change.

In 2018, therapy became an important part of my healing, and strength training became an important part of rebuilding my relationship with myself.

The gym wasn't just somewhere I changed my body.

It became one of the places where I learned to keep promises to myself.

I learned discipline. I built confidence. I discovered strength I didn't know I had. I began rebuilding self-trust.

And as I started discovering who I was outside of everything and everyone I was responsible for, I began discovering my purpose too.

I also learned something that completely changed the way I viewed self-care:

Taking care of myself wasn't taking anything away from the people I loved.

I needed to take care of myself so I could have the energy, strength, and capacity to show up for them—and still have something left for me.

Then, in 2026, life challenged that lesson in a completely different way when I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer.

My diagnosis didn't mean I had failed at taking care of myself. I was active. I exercised. I cared about my health. Taking care of yourself doesn't guarantee that illness or difficult seasons won't happen.

But my experience reinforced something I now want every woman to understand:

Your health deserves your attention before something happens that demands it.

The strength, habits, self-awareness, and relationship I had built with myself mattered when life became difficult.

That's why my message today is:

Prioritize your health before a crisis forces you to.

ReleaseHER isn't something I created because I read about women putting themselves last.

I was her.

The woman who took care of everybody.

The woman who thought being strong meant carrying everything.

The woman who didn't know who she was outside of what everyone needed from her.

The woman who had to learn that choosing herself wasn't selfish.

And now I help other women do the same.

Not just through workouts.

Through strength, accountability, self-care, mindset, consistency, community, and learning how to make themselves part of the life they're working so hard to take care of.

You can love your family deeply and still choose yourself.

You can be responsible for other people and still be responsible for you.

You belong on your priority list too.

That's what ReleaseHER is about.

The Identity Transformation

This isn't a before & after photo. It's a before & after woman.

Before

  • Everyone else comes first — always
  • Starts and stops every few weeks
  • Waits for motivation to "feel ready"
  • Feels guilty taking time for herself
  • All-or-nothing: perfect or nothing at all
  • Feels stuck and doesn't know why

After

  • Has a realistic routine that fits her real life
  • Consistent — not perfect, but consistent
  • Understands her patterns and works with them
  • Returns when interrupted — without guilt or shame
  • Has boundaries around her time and energy
  • Trusts herself to follow through

Real Women. Real Words.

Hear from women who stopped waiting and started choosing themselves.

If you're looking for a coach who knows how to bring the best out of you—physically, mentally, and motivationally—look no further than Coach Shanika! She brings a strength-based focus that challenges you to grow while still meeting you where you are. I've seen real progress—not just in my strength, but in my confidence and mindset too. She creates a supportive, no-judgment space that makes you want to keep coming back.

D

Deirdra Shippe

Shanika is a great trainer! She makes you feel comfortable and is attentive to your needs. I have been going to her strength class for about 9 months now and in the beginning I had pain and weakness in my knees. I'm happy to report that my knees are stronger. Steps are easier to navigate and I am able to kneel and apply pressure that was impossible to do in the beginning.

Tiara C. Autry

Coach Nika creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space while still challenging you to grow stronger physically which will lead to feeling stronger mentally. Her approach is not just about workouts, it's about building confidence, consistency, and a healthier relationship with your body!!

SaNesa Gordon

Shanika is a wonderful trainer. She is very knowledgeable about what it takes to strengthen your mind, body, and spirit. Her method of training is very graceful and supportive. If you are someone just beginning, starting over, or just need an added boost of a collective group of women to work alongside of, I'd highly recommend her services.
